UK box Office Review: 21st – 23rd of February
We took a bank-holiday break last week, but we saw a few surprises at the UK Box Office! Who’d have guessed that Dolittle, with its terrible reviews, would jump from 3rd back up to second? No doubt this happened as a result of the holiday break.
Another surprise was the disappointing debut of Greed, which failed to make the top ten, and debuted in 11th.
Check out our past UK box office predictions.
What’s Happening At The UK Box Office This week?
There are three films opening at over 300 locations in the UK this weekend, The Invisible Man, Dark Waters and Downhill.
The Invisible Man has a real shot at the top spot, but it’s not getting a preview release so we’re going to lean towards Sonic the Hedgehog keeping the top spot. We’re also leaning this way because The Invisible Man has had average reviews. The Guardian said that “this Invisible Man needed a bit more flesh”.
The smaller Downhill and Dark Waters aren’t as likely to trouble the top of the charts. Downhill was described by the Independent as ‘timid’, and Empire described Dark Waters as ‘light on plot’.
